These two documents are the documents used in the common transit regime. There is a difference between the T1 document and the T2 document for customs. The T1 document allows the goods whose origin is not the European Union to move within the European Union. The T2 certificate allows the goods originating from the European Union to move freely in the non-European Union country.

What Is T1?

T1 is a transit pass that allows goods from outside the European Union to move freely within the European Union. The T1 document ensures that no customs duties or taxes are paid when the shipment moves from one country to another within the European Union. It is also called “External Transit” in transportation. It is used for the transit of goods outside the Community.

For example; T1 document is used for a transit transaction where country of departure is Turkey and country of destination is Germany.

What Is T2?

The T2 is a transport document required for the carriage of goods in free circulation in the European Union through or to non-European Union countries. It can be used for the transport of Community goods under the common transit regime.

For example, a T2 document is used for a transit transaction where the country of origin is Spain and the country of destination is Turkey.
