Within the framework of the ATA agreement, it is an international document used instead of the national customs document that must be issued for goods to be temporarily admitted to the countries that are parties to the ATA agreement.

No customs duty is payable for goods covered by the ATA carnet. The goods must be temporarily imported into the country for a certain period of time and exported at the end of the period. This guarantees the payment of customs and other duties due in case of non-export. The validity period is one year from the date of issue.
